Remote desktop or an AI agent?
Two ways to use your Mac from your phone, and when each one fits.
Remote desktop
Remote desktop apps (for example Chrome Remote Desktop, Jump Desktop or Screens) put your Mac's screen on your phone so you can operate it yourself. Every click and keystroke is yours, on a small screen.
An AI agent
An AI agent does the work for you. You say what you want, for example “Open Notes and write a shopping list”, and it carries out the steps on your Mac.
Which fits
- Remote desktop fits precise work you want to do yourself, in apps that need your judgement at every step.
- An agent fits routine tasks with several steps, and times you're away from a big screen, on mobile data or on the move.
Mermaid does both
Ask, and Mermaid does the task. Or open Live Screen to watch your Mac, and Take Over to use its trackpad and keyboard yourself. Either way, Mermaid asks before sending, deleting or buying.
